Association Football, or soccer, has a long history in Broome. During the 1960s, a Team from the Prison, a Derby side (consisting of many german builders that worked in the area), and teams composed of Pearl Divers played games on the ground where the Shire Offices are Now Built. The team pictured above is a Malay Side who played games when their pearl boats were in.
The current version of the Competition was born from a strong social soccer scene in 2008.
